QUIET HOLIDAYS - Our Apartment is an ideal place to stay if you would like a quiet holiday in comfort and the sushine.

ACTIVITY HOLIDAYS - I have been trying to think of an activity for which I have seen no details at all. After much thought, I have one - ROCK CLIMBING. There are lots of cliffs and I have no doubt that you could almost write your own guide book full of first ascents. POT WHOLING - Please try to stay in one piece - There must be thousands of mines in the Sierra Minera. Some are very dangerous but others are tourist attractions. Not first descents but you may be rewarded with some spectacular mineral specimens for your efforts. I do not know if there is an organised rescue service so make your own enquiries about permissions and limitations. Or you may wish to use it as a base for a Golfing, Sailing, Watersports, Walking, Mountain Biking, Fishing, Archaeology, Minerology, Sight Seeing or a Relaxing Holiday looking up to the hills from our terrace and thinking lazily - 'There's gold in them there hills!'

VILLA CRISTAL

Villa Cristal (left) and the Southern village and beach of Los Nietos, Mar Menor, Costa Calida, Cartagena,Murcia, Spain

 Our Apartment is, a modern, fully furnished, very well equipped, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, ground floor apartment, with a huge terrace, in the Villa Cristal complex
which is surrounded by a secure gated wall.

Villa Cristal is the building at the left in the picture above.

Villa Cristal is the last building at the Southern end of the old fishing village of
Los Nietos, Mar Menor. There are open fields beyond. It was completed in 2006.

Villa Cristal has very easy access to the beach and the Mar Menor,
the largest salt water lagoon in Europe, which protects Los Nietos from the open Mediterranean and provides sheltered warm water which is ideal and safe for bathing.

The nearest airport is Murcia San Javier (MJV),about 20 Kms to the North.

Amenities in the immediate area include Golf, Shopping, Restaurants, and Bars.
There is a narrow gauge railway to the city of Cartagena some 30 Kms to the South. Los Nietos has a 400 berth marina and is home to Club Nautico Los Nietos,
The most prestigious yacht club on the Mar Menor.

Premier sporting and coaching facilities are available nearby at the world renowned La Manga Club which is within sight of our terrace. 

Our terrace has the benefit of the sun from mid-day to sundown all year round.
The views from the terrace take in both the sea and the mountains.

The terrace is very well equipped and furnished with a substantial dining table and chairs with cushions to seat six.  The permanent bar-b-cue is ideal for atmosphere and al fresco cooking.

The large sun awning offers shade when the sun is at its most intense and the well cushioned loungers enable you to luxuriate in the sun to get your tan

Los Nietos is extremely popular with the Spanish during July and August, the hottest months, because a cooling sea breeze develops daily when the sun is at its height.

Villa Cristal has its own swimming pool.

Just 150 metres from the apartment looking towards the 400 berth Marina and Club Nautico Los Nietos.

ROMANS AND CARTAGINIANS:
If you are thinking of a late holiday, why not consider September.  
The Romans
and Carthaginians Festival
is in September. This really is most realistic in the memory of the long lasting struggles between Hanibal and Scipio. But sorry - We haven't seen any elephants though.  
The Romans have the emblem of a 4 horse chariot. The Carthaginians have a single horse standing very proud by a palm tree.

Paramount Theme Park Murcia CONFIRMED

We understand at The Cows Tongue that Alhama de Murcia has been selected as the site for their theme park which is planned to rival Disneyland Paris. That puts the park within about 40 minutes drive from The Cows Tongue.

2nd Airport soon 
The area will soon be served by two airports. Corveiro is ahead of schedule too. That will place our apartment within 20 mins or 30 mins of a choice of airports which should be good competition resluting in cheaper flights.

Property search 
Now is probably a very good time to look for property in the Costa Calida area of Spain if you are thinking of relocating on a permanent basis. Our bank manager said that the banks in Spain have the keys to more properties than they know what to do with. Bank managers may be a very good place to start a property search. 

Look before you Leap
It is generally agreed that it is better to have a long and close look at the area you think you would like to choose. It gives you chance to see if you think you will fit in and if the area matches your expectations. You can also start to learn the language.
